SMD Member Newsletter - April, 2010

To all SMD Members:

I can't believe it's almost May - summer is right around the corner! For those of you that didn't know, I inked a deal on a 4,500 square foot shop of my own. Now, I finally have a place to call home for SMD! CLICK HERE to read the thread in regards. CLICK HERE to get a video tour of the new facility. I'm outfitting it with the latest and greatest tools as we speak. We just unpacked and installed the brand new Milwaukee panel saw - CLICK HERE to see the video. Next up is a table saw and a Mobile Solutions router table - Bryan is making it for me now!

The SMD WHQ has already been home to more than a few fun nights and we have many more in store in the future. Rockford called me and asked me if I could store their Mercedes "bread truck" Sprinter Van for a few days while it was inbetween stops - no prob! Now, you know I was gonna' give a few demos of the Rockford Fosgate SoundLab while it was in my possession. CLICK HERE to check it out. It's got a BUNCH of power, (12) P3 15" woofers, and is set up like an amusment park ride. Everyone that heard it thought it was awesome!

I joined ustream in January - my channel is http://www.ustream.tv/channel/meade916. I'll be broadcasting a whole bunch of stuff live from the SMD WHQ so you'll want to stay tuned. This is a really cool way to stay connected with my fans so you'll want to sign up for sure. A few nights ago, we had a lil' get together at the WHQ and over 1,500 people from all around the world were logged in before I logged off! At times, it was like an SMD request line as I was playing songs that people requested to hear - chyea!

The tahoe has been fixed, totally repainted in "Meadecherry" and back on the street. Thanks a bunch to Roy Devore of AutoBody Workshop in Sacramento, CA for his unbelievable work. This thing is SICK and it turns heads everywhere I drive it - even more than it did before! CLICK HERE to see the vid of me picking it up from Roy's shop. I got all my gear back in it and it's business as usual now. If you've had trouble finding a reputable shop to do your ride up, then give Roy a shout - I can't recommend him highly enough!

Now that I've got the Tahoe back and the system back up and running, I also had time to get the Ridetech Titanium Suspension finished. One of the features of this system is self-leveling. CLICK HERE to check it out - I'm LOVIN' this kit!

System of the Month (SOTM)

SOTM has been a home run for SMD this year. I'm proud to say that SMD Partners continue to rock the house by putting up BIG prizes! Sundown Audio was the SOTM sponsor for the month of March and Jacob put up one of his SAZ-1500D 1500 watt amplifiers! How cool is that?

Cracker was voted the winner - not bad for someone that joined SMD a little over a year ago! After reviewing Cracker's Build, it certainly looks like he's going to make great use of this amplifier. If you haven't seen all the custom work he's put into his build, then check it out! Jacob - you made his day! Cracker, that's way cool of you to post up the Mr. Fuller thread - I posted up a link to it on my facebook page.

Here's a few pics of Cracker's build - I especially like the A-Pillars . . . if only Q-Logic made those as bolt-ins, we wouldn't have to build them! Hint Hint . . .

Cracker1Cracker2Cracker3Cracker4

So, what'd Cracker have to say in regards? "I'm still in shock that I won LOL. It means a lot to me because when I first joined here I thought SOTM was something I could never be part of just because of the quality builds going on. I read a lot of different stuff and got my hands dirty. I have one build under my belt and this is it. I can't believe I won such a KILLER prize - thanks Jacob!"

This month is sponsored by Second Skin and is designed to help those members with RATTLES. If you've got 'em, you don't want 'em. Time to get rid of them for good and tighten up the sound of your system. As usual, Ant steps up to the plate and has put up a $250.00 shopping credit at the Second Skin web site for the winner. And, if you didn't know already, Second Skin isn't priced at three times what it's worth like some of those other companines so $250.00 goes a LONG WAY!

Unfortunately, all 15 nominee spots were filled in record time when this one was announced so if you didn't enter this month, you'll have to wait until next month. Get your system READY, because you wont' want to miss it! Stay tuned to the SOTM forum for the official announcement on May. I'll give you one hint - it will NOT be a "System of the Month" contest in May. And, no I ain't tellin'!

I want to give a big shout out to all our SMD Partners for makng SOTM so popular! Please show them your support by entering and VOTING! Also, please consider them when buying gear for your rides and refer them to your friends. SMD Partners have been instrumental in helping SMD be a better place for all of us! It kind of goes without saying that SOTM is kinda' unique to SMD. Make sure you tell your friends at other forums how we do it over here. They can't win FREE GEAR if they aren't a Member!

AA/SMD woofers are catchin' on fast, and for good reason - they're SICK! Here are some of my favorite threads so far featuring them. CLICK on any of them and you'll be directed right to the thread:

Hummer H2 Build with SIX AA/SMD 18s! Yeah, you read that right . . . SIX! Any build that has (74) speakers, (20) batteries, (4) alternators, and (20) amplifiers totalling over 37,000 watts RMS is definitely gonna' get my attention!

First AA/SMD Sub in Hawaii! It looks like #089 made it all the way to Hawaii - how cool is that?

First AA/SMD Sub in Australia! #080 made it to the land down under. From the sinister look on this member's face, I bet this will be a really wild build - especially considering it's going in a VW bug!

First AA/SMD Subs in Italy! FOUR 15s goin in his SUV - Danilo is gonna' show those Italians what's UP!

What's Hot, New and Exciting?

Every newsletter I do my best to pass on NEWS from our SMD Partners. This month, we've got some cool stuff from XS Power and Audio Savings.

XS POWERAccording to Nathan Way at XS Power, "The D6500 is XS Power's new Group 65 battery and was released earlier this year. At 58 pounds, bhit battery packs a punch and will replace any Group 65 Battery. Group 65 Batteries are very common in diesel applications, SUVs, and other larger vehicles. The D6500 also offers the car audio enthusiast another option for a high powered battery and looking to save weight and space. The D6500 is only 11.8"L x 7.2"W x 8.3"H, which makes it a great option for those that are limited on battery space." CLICK HERE to learn more or give XS Power a call directly at (888) 497-7693. Tell 'em Steve sent ya'!

Audio SavingsSam wanted me to share some info with you about some new products and specials that Audio Savings has goin' on currently. Lemme' tel ya', Sam is totally into what he sells!

For those who don't want to build their own box or don't want to pay a premium to have someone build it, we offer a one stop shop of boxes that are optimized for specific subwoofers." CLICK HERE to check 'em out. Great idea Sam. If you're just starting out, this is a great way to get some bass!

5,000 Watt RMS Cadence Amplifier - "We've got a 5,000 Watt RMS amplifier from Cadence on sale currently for $849.00! I know SMD Members like BIG amps, so this one should fit the bill nicely. This amp is also 18 volt ready," says Sam. CLICK HERE to check it out - this is one big amp!
